Environmental reporter; Pulitzer Prize co-winner
She helped produce InsideClimate News’s “The Dilbit Disaster,” which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the Enbridge pipeline spill and contamination of the Kalamazoo River. The team showed that diluted bitumen behaved differently from conventional crude and that responders initially lacked information needed for an appropriate cleanup. Her subsequent reporting also examined Exxon’s history of climate research and later support for climate denial. These investigations confront a difficult accountability question: who bears responsibility for industrial risks when corporate assurances conflict with records and residents’ experiences.
