Emilia Díaz-Struck
Executive director, GIJN
At ICIJ she combined data analysis with international coordination on the Panama Papers, Pandora Papers and FinCEN Files, helping reporters examine financial flows and concealed connections. As data editor on the Implant Files, she participated in scrutiny of medical device safety and regulatory gaps using millions of device-related reports. Her work also highlights an investigation's less visible foundation: organising documents and checking data before they underpin public allegations. She co-founded Venezuela's Armando.info, mentored Latin American reporters and went on to lead GIJN, developing the collaboration that enables small newsrooms to investigate matters extending beyond national borders.
