Gustavo Faleiros

Environmental journalist; InfoAmazonia founder

Gustavo Faleiros co-founded InfoAmazonia, combining satellite imagery, open data and reporting on environmental change across nine Amazon countries. Rather than relying only on official statements, he developed mapping tools that help reporters examine changes on the ground. He also established citizen contributions on water and air quality and supported training in geojournalism. From 2020 to 2025, he directed environmental investigations at the Pulitzer Center and coordinated its Rainforest Investigations Network. His contribution lies in building verifiable tools for reporting on pressure on forests and supporting international teams investigating that pressure.
