Ida Jooste combines health journalism with training reporters to cover crises accurately. At Internews, she played a leading role in a global COVID-19 media initiative, helping newsrooms explain evolving science and respond to misinformation. Her expertise includes HIV, reproductive rights and the social consequences of stigma. She also moderated “The COVID-19 Story: Science, Scandal, Solutions”, bringing scientific reporting together with investigative questions about accountability. Her proposed candidacy recognises the reporting skills she develops to scrutinise institutional promises and explain health risks without sensationalism or unwarranted certainty.
