Lise Olsen
Investigative reporter and author
In Code of Silence she examined federal court employee Cathy McBroom's exposure of Judge Samuel Kent's sexual misconduct and the mechanisms protecting powerful people within the judiciary. Drawing on a decade of reporting, the book explores how secrecy and unequal workplace power obstructed accountability. Her other investigations have addressed corruption, neglected homicide cases, victim identification and wrongful imprisonment, combining documents with sustained work alongside witnesses. Her candidacy is suggested for persistent scrutiny of institutions meant to protect the public but themselves requiring oversight, using documents and the experiences of people affected by institutional failures.
