Regine Cabato investigates disinformation, violence and political influence in the Philippines, combining field reporting with observation of online manipulation. She gained firsthand access to work inside a troll farm and reported on influence campaigns surrounding the 2022 presidential election. She also covered drug-war killings and spent a year following a rape case against a priest, examining survivors' experiences and institutional responses, with particular attention to the relationship between survivors and the justice system. At the Reuters Institute, she developed a project exploring how journalists can report more effectively on malign influence campaigns and better protect themselves against their effects.
