Quinto Elemento Lab co-founder; Pulitzer Prize winner
Working with David Barstow, she investigated corruption accompanying Walmart’s expansion in Mexico for The New York Times. The reporters compared government records, permits and internal correspondence with accounts from people familiar with the transactions. Their publications examined suspect payments, permissions to build stores and the handling of the company’s internal investigation. They jointly received the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting, recognising a team effort whose importance lies in scrutinising relationships among a global corporation, local officials and the public interest through detailed documentary reporting.
